# Begin Your Story: First Steps in Love Story Roleplay

> Walk through character creation, City Hall registration, starter jobs, the clothing store, and tips for meeting other players in your first session.

Your whitelist application has been approved and you have connected for the first time — congratulations and welcome to the city. Your first session sets the tone for your character's story, so take your time with each step below rather than rushing to jump straight into the action. The steps are ordered to get you set up, earn your first dollars, and make meaningful contact with the community as quickly as possible.

## Your First Session

    When you first load in, you are taken directly to the character creation screen. Fill in your character's **first and last name**, customise their physical appearance using the sliders, and answer the short backstory prompt. Your backstory does not have to be a novel — a few sentences about where your character comes from and why they arrived in the city is plenty to start roleplaying with confidence.

      Choose a name that sounds like a real person's name and fits the setting. Avoid names that break immersion (no usernames, celebrity names, or joke names) — the moderation team may ask you to change names that violate the naming policy.

  <Step title="Spawn at the newcomer arrival point">
    After you confirm your character, you spawn at the **Newcomer Arrival Zone** near the city centre. Take a moment to look around and get your bearings. A brief on-screen tutorial message will appear with some quick keybind reminders — read through it before dismissing it.

  <Step title="Visit City Hall to register your character">
    Head to **City Hall** (marked with a star icon on your minimap) to officially register your character with the city. Registration is quick — interact with the front desk NPC and follow the prompts. Registration unlocks access to jobs, the property market, and your personal bank account. You cannot earn money or own property until this step is complete.

  <Step title="Pick up a starter job">
    With your character registered, you are ready to earn your first dollars. Walk to the **Job Centre** (shown on the minimap as a briefcase icon) and browse the available entry-level positions. Good starter options include:

    * **Delivery Driver** — pick up and drop off packages around the city; easy to learn and pays steadily.
    * **Garbage Collector** — drive the truck along a set route, collecting bins at marked stops.
    * **Postal Worker** — similar to delivery driving but with a set time bonus for fast completions.

    You can switch jobs at any time by returning to the Job Centre, so do not worry about locking yourself into a career on day one. Use `/job` in chat at any time to check your currently active job assignment.

  <Step title="Visit the clothing store">
    Once you have a few dollars in your pocket, head to any **Clothing Store** (marked with a shirt icon) to further personalise your character's look. Your starter outfit is functional, but a more distinct appearance helps other players recognise your character and builds your identity in the city.

  <Step title="Meet other players and start your story">
    The heart of Love Story Roleplay is the interactions between characters. Walk into a café, lean against a car in the parking lot, or stroll through the park — opportunities to meet people appear organically when you simply exist in the world. Introduce yourself in character, ask questions as your character would, and let the story unfold naturally.

## Essential Commands to Know

Before you venture too far into the city, familiarise yourself with the handful of chat commands you will use every day. Type any of these directly into the in-game chat box.

| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/me [action]`      | Describes a physical action your character performs, visible to nearby players — e.g. `/me smiles and extends a hand`. |
| `/ooc [message]`    | Sends an out-of-character message to nearby players. Use sparingly for genuine clarifications only.                    |
| `/report [message]` | Sends a private report to online staff. Use this if you witness a rule break or need urgent help.                      |
| `/job`              | Displays your currently assigned job and shift status.                                                                 |
| `/money`            | Shows your current cash on hand and bank balance.                                                                      |
| `/911 [message]`    | Sends an emergency dispatch message to on-duty police and emergency services.                                          |

## Roleplay Tips for New Players

Settling into the rhythm of a roleplay server takes a little practice. Keep the following principles in mind during your first sessions.

  If you experience a rule break or encounter a player acting in bad faith, do **not** escalate in character. Step away from the scene, use `/report` in-game to alert online staff, and document the situation with a screenshot if possible. Never take matters into your own hands — retaliatory rule breaks result in the same penalties as the original offence.
