# Jobs economy
The Love Story RP economy is a fully simulated financial system where every dollar you earn, spend, and save shapes your character's story. Whether you want to climb the ranks of the LSPD, run a legitimate delivery business, or carve out a living on the criminal underground, understanding how money flows through the city is essential to getting the most out of your roleplay experience. This guide breaks down every path to income and shows you how to make the most of what you earn.
If you're just starting out, begin with civilian jobs to build a solid financial foundation. They're available immediately, require no application, and give you time to learn the city before you consider riskier ventures.

## The In-Game Currency
All transactions on Love Story RP use **in-game dollars (\$)**. Your money is split into two pools:

| **Cash (Wallet)** | Physical money you carry — lost if you die without insurance or are robbed |
| **Bank Balance** | Secure funds stored in your account, accessible at any ATM across the city |
Always deposit your cash at an ATM after a big payday. Carrying large amounts of cash makes you a target for robberies and means you could lose everything in a death scenario.

## Job Categories
Civilian (starter) jobs are available to **every player from day one** — no application, no whitelist, no waiting. They're the fastest way to get cash in hand and learn how the city works.

**Getting started with a civilian job:**
1. Open your **phone** with `/phone` and navigate to the **Jobs** app.
2. Select any available civilian job and confirm your start.
3. Follow the on-screen waypoints to complete tasks and collect your pay.
The **Fisher** and **Miner** jobs tend to offer the best pay-per-hour for solo players. Grab a friend for the **Garbage Collector** route — one drives, one collects — to finish faster and split a bigger payout.
Whitelisted jobs are **professional roles** that require you to submit an application and be accepted by the relevant department or the server administration team. These jobs come with structured ranks, dedicated roleplay scenarios, and often higher earning potential.

**What to expect from a whitelisted job:**
* A structured onboarding and training process run by senior staff in that department.
* Regular active-duty shifts — inactivity without notice may result in removal.
* A rank progression system with pay increases as you level up within the department.
* Access to restricted equipment, vehicles, and locations relevant to your role.
Whitelisted job applications are reviewed by player-run department heads, not server admins. Response times vary. Check the relevant Discord channel for current hiring status before applying.
Criminal activities offer the **highest earning potential** in the city — but they come with serious risk. Getting caught means prison time, losing your gear, and facing in-character consequences that can last for days of playtime.

**Rules you must follow for criminal RP:**
* All criminal activity must follow the server's **Criminal RP Rules** — read the full Rules guide for details.
* You must give law enforcement a **realistic chance** to respond and intervene.
* **Powergaming** criminal scenarios (e.g., robbing the same store repeatedly within minutes) is prohibited.
* A **cooldown period** applies to major heists — check the rules document for current timers.
Criminal income is high-risk, high-reward. New players who jump straight into criminal activities without understanding the rules often end up with a ban rather than a bank balance. Build your reputation and knowledge first.

## Spending Your Money
Once you've earned your dollars, the city has plenty of ways to spend them:

## Banking & ATMs
ATMs are scattered throughout the city and let you manage your bank account at any time. You can:
* **Deposit** cash from your wallet into your bank account
* **Withdraw** funds from your bank account as physical cash
* **Check** your current bank and wallet balance
Some transactions — including certain property purchases and high-value trades — automatically apply a small **city tax**. This is deducted at the point of transaction and is displayed in the confirmation prompt before you commit.
