# Connect to Love Story Roleplay: FiveM Install Guide

> Learn how to download FiveM, check system requirements, and connect to Love Story Roleplay for the first time, including the whitelist gate.

Connecting to Love Story Roleplay takes only a few minutes once you have the right software installed. FiveM runs alongside your existing copy of GTA V and does not modify your original game files, so you can play both without any conflict. Follow the steps below to go from a fresh install all the way to your first login.

## System Requirements

Before you start downloading anything, make sure your PC meets the minimum requirements to run GTA V and FiveM smoothly.

## Connection Steps

  <Step title="Download and install FiveM">
    Go to [fivem.net](https://fivem.net) and click **Download Client**. Run the installer once the download is complete. FiveM will automatically detect your GTA V installation and set itself up — no manual configuration is needed.

      Keep FiveM up to date by letting it auto-update each time you launch it. Running an outdated client can prevent you from connecting to servers that have moved to a newer FiveM version.

  <Step title="Install GTA V (required, sold separately)">
    FiveM requires a legitimate, fully updated copy of Grand Theft Auto V. You can purchase it from any of the following platforms:

    * **Steam** — [store.steampowered.com](https://store.steampowered.com)
    * **Epic Games Store** — [store.epicgames.com](https://store.epicgames.com)
    * **Rockstar Games Launcher** — [rockstargames.com](https://www.rockstargames.com/launcher)

    Make sure GTA V has finished its initial download and has launched at least once before opening FiveM.

  <Step title="Find Love Story Roleplay in the server browser">
    Launch FiveM and wait for the main menu to load. You have two ways to connect:

    **Option A — Server Browser:**

    1. Click **Play** in the top navigation bar.
    2. Type `Love Story Roleplay` into the search bar.
    3. Click the server name in the results list, then click **Connect**.

    **Option B — Direct Connect:**

    1. Press **F8** to open the FiveM console (or click the console icon in the menu).
    2. Type `connect <server-ip>` and press **Enter** — you can find the current direct-connect IP pinned in the **#server-info** channel of our Discord.

  <Step title="Wait for resources to download">
    On your very first connection, FiveM needs to download all of the server's custom assets — scripts, vehicles, clothing, and more. This initial download can take **5 – 20 minutes** depending on your internet speed. Subsequent logins are much faster because resources are cached on your PC.

      Do not close FiveM or alt-tab away during the download phase, as interrupted downloads can cause corrupted resource files that require you to clear your cache and start again.

  <Step title="Create your character">
    Once the loading screen clears, you will be placed into the character creation screen. Here you can set your character's name, customise their appearance, and respond to a brief backstory prompt to help you hit the ground running with a roleplay foundation.   Love Story Roleplay is **whitelisted**. Even after following every step above, the server will only allow you in if your application has been approved. If you see a message saying your connection was rejected, check your application status in the **#whitelist-status** channel on our Discord before trying again.
